Martin has enjoyed a splendid career as a musician, garnering billions of listeners and more than 70 million record sales. The two-time Grammy winner and five-time Latin Grammy winner enjoyed a humble start to his career, coming to prominence within his native San Juan by appearing in a handful of television commercials.
A natural showman, Martin joined boy band Menudo in 1984. He left the Grammy-nominated group when he was 17, embarking on an uber-successful solo career. Martin released his eponymous debut album in 1991. The project surged near the top of the Billboard Latin charts.
By 1995, Martin was an international superstar. His third album, “A Medio Vivir”, was certified gold in the U.S. and four times platinum in Spain.
