dpMike Tirico is now entering his fifth season as NBC’s lead announcer after he replaced Al Michaels, who departed his role on Sunday Night Football in 2021.
Tirico has been partnered with Cris Collinsworth as NBC‘s No. 1 broadcast team, while signing a lucrative deal — the biggest of his career, which has spanned over 38 years. As well as covering the NFL, Tirico has also called games in the NBA, NHL, college football, golf, tennis, and even in the World Cup.
The 59-year-old remains under contract with NBC and reportedly earns up to $10.5 million a year while working with Collinsworth, who recently admitted that NFL players are unaware of his eight-year playing career.

Tirico has a reported net worth of $14 million, but that figure is likely significantly higher due to his recent deals with NBC while under contract.
His annual salary of $10.5 million makes him among the highest-paid NFL broadcasters.
At the same time, he also handles many other duties with NBC, including covering the Triple Crown (horse racing) and golf majors in recent seasons.

While he became the lead announcer for NBC in 2022, Tirico has plenty of experience calling prime-time NFL games.
He previously worked for ESPN as the voice of Monday Night Football from 2006 through the 2015 season, a role he had held before Michaels took it from him when Michaels departed for NBC.
Despite calling games as a lead announcer for 20 years, Tirico called his first Super Bowl this year as NBC led the coverage of the Seattle Seahawks’ win over the New England Patriots at the home of the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara.
Tirico will have made more than $60 million since 2020 if his reported salary is accurate.
While he officially took over in the 2022 season, Tirico became the go-to announcer the year before, after the aforementioned Michaels had begun covering fewer games for NBC.
He became the official No. 1 announcer the following year after Michaels left the role he’d held for 16 seasons, moving to Amazon Prime Video, where he covers Thursday Night Football.
Michaels now calls games with Kirk Herbstreit, who also works for ESPN as one of the analysts on College GameDay, before being the color commentator of the Saturday afternoon prime time game.
