MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – The Michigan State Lottery is giving you a chance to nominate educators in your community whom you feel have made a difference for students.
The Michigan State Lottery’s Excellence in Education award honors anyone who works in a public school with students.
An educator will be honored each week during the current school year. Winners will receive $2,000 and be showcased on a local TV spot in their area.
Nominees can be anyone who works with students in a school setting. These can be teachers, principals and even custodians.
Michigan Lottery Commissioner Joe Froehlich says what’s great about the award is how community-based it is and the creativity in nominating someone.
“We receive videos, we get lots of touching and heartwarming letters,” Froehlich said. “Watching the videos, and reading the letters that people submit, I have to stop myself from crying just about every week.”
If you are interested in nominating an educator, you can find more information on the Michigan Lottery’s website or through TV6 here.
The video above will feature the TV6 livestream until staff can clip the corresponding story, if available, from broadcasts or other TV6 content. You can subscribe to our YouTube page or download TV6+ to stream the latest local news and weather.
