The brand, originally founded in Liverpool, is taking over the old Original Factory Shop unit.
The move was first announced by Egremont Town Council in a Facebook post, where they said: “Here goes: TJ Hughes are advertising for a store manager for their NEW store in Egremont.
“For those who know TJ Hughes is a national store very similar to our previous Plastic Factory and rumour is they are planning to take over the old plastic site, which would be great for the Town.”
A spokesperson from TJ Hughes confirmed the move.
They said: “TJ Hughes is coming to Egremont and we hope it is to the delight of local shoppers.
“Moving into the Original Factory Shop unit, the store is due to open before the end of November, which means Egremont’s Christmas shopping options just got even better.”
Jason Harmer, COO of TJ Hughes, said: “This represents an important step for us.
“Egremont is a fantastic location with a great community reputation and we are opening in a site that has served the town well for several years so we believe this move will be good for both the town and for our brand.
“Coming to Egremont, which a new location for our brand, is something we’re really excited about.
“We are recruiting upto 15 members of staff for the new store, and this move is part of the broader growth of the TJ Hughes estate.”
TJ Hughes offers a range of products such as fashion, beauty, homeware, pet care and everyday goods.
