Serena Williams merged Old Hollywood glamour with a walk on the wild side with her Clio Peppiatt dress at the Airbnb.org Gala at Milk Studios in Los Angeles on Thursday night.
The 23-time Grand Slam tennis champion and Wyn Beauty founder sported the Eartha dress from the brand — a form-fitting gown cast in leopard print with contrasting shimmering tones. The dress evoked the diva energy of the Old Hollywood era, with each bead hand-sewn onto the stretch mesh fabric.

A thigh-high slit gave the dress an extra dose of sensual appeal, amplifying the gold, silver and black tones of the gown. As for accessories, Williams added a statement necklace made of diamonds and a dark central gemstone, along with silver earrings. She also wore a timepiece by Audemars Piguet. A pair of pointed-toe black pumps completed the look.
Williams’ dress, which retails for $5,845 on Clio Peppiatt’s official website, hails from the brand’s Hollywood collection. Inspired by vintage glamour and artistic movie posters of the past, the collection featured ornate beadwork throughout, with sinuous silhouettes.

Born in Paris, designer Clio Peppiatt was surrounded by artists, forming the foundation for her eponymous label that was founded in London. Over the years, model Ashley Graham and country music singer Kacey Musgraves have also worn designs from the label.
Prior to her appearance at the Airbnb.org Gala, Williams spent the summer on the tennis court. The venerated athlete returned to the sport after a nearly four-year hiatus. During her comeback tournaments, Williams wore several pieces by Nike, with which she has a close collaborative relationship.

Williams joined a bevy of celebrities and high-profile figures at Wednesday night’s gala, including Charlize Theron, Cynthia Erivo and Tracee Ellis Ross, among others. Designer dressing was the unofficial dress code for the event, with stars sporting pieces from Givenchy, Michael Kors and Roberto Cavalli.
The Airbnb.org Gala highlights the independent nonprofit arm of Airbnb’s operations, providing housing to those impacted by natural disasters and beyond. Wednesday night marked the inaugural event for the charity.
