Sunday was the final day of early in-person voting ahead of Election Day on Tuesday.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Voters stood in line Sunday at the Franklin County Board of Elections to cast their ballots on the last day of early in-person voting.
“It was like a giant party after a while,” voter Andre Martin said.
According to the Board of Elections, 93,166 Franklin County voters went in-person to cast their ballots in this election. There are roughly 906,000 registered voters in the county, according to Board of Elections officials.
Franklin County Board of Elections Director Antone White said early voter turnout in this election has been strong.
“It’s not quite as large as a presidential, but it’s pretty big, we’re seeing about two times the amount of voters we saw in the last midterm election in 2022,” White said.
Voter Nedra Howard said the long line was a lot to take in, but a positive experience.
“To be in a line like this, it was a lot, but it felt good to see that everybody wanted to get out here and make a change and have their voice and do their civic duty to vote,” Howard said.
Some voters said they waited hours to cast their ballots.
“We waited for about two hours, and it was definitely worth it. It’s so important to do our civic duty,” said voter Stacy Mills.
“It was a lot longer than I expected, honestly, but I should’ve known that since this is the last day, but it was efficient, people here were nice,” voter Christopher Strait said.
Certain races were top of mind for voters.
“Governor and Issue 3, those were my most important races this time,” voter Hilary Tufo said.
“Governor, senator, Issue 8 and 9 and 3, those are the biggest ones,” Howard said.
Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Election Day.
