Serena Williams‘ tennis comeback will continue at the Berlin Tennis Open, where she will play doubles alongside Czech player Karolína Muchová at the WTA 500 grass-court event, running from 15-21 June.
The four-time Olympic gold medallist returned to competition earlier this month for the first time since the 2022 US Open, partnering Victoria Mboko at the HSBC Championships in Queen’s Club.
The pair won their opening match 7-6(2), 6-2 against third seeds Erin Routliffe and Nicole Melichar-Martinez, but Mboko then suffered a knee injury in a singles match, ending the pairing’s run after one outing.
Williams quickly found a new partner in Muchová, the world No. 10 in singles.
“Every tournament I add to my schedule right now feels special, and Berlin is no exception,” Williams said in a statement. “I’m excited to compete in front of the German fans and continue building momentum throughout the grass-court season.”
Williams and Muchova are set to take to the court on Tuesday (16 June) for their first-round match against Routliffe and her partner for the week, Giuliana Olmos. The exact schedule will be announced on Monday, though match-play on court in Berlin always began at 11:00am local time (CET).
