“I’m hoping 1-0 win for Iran. I want my team to win regardless (of the circumstances),” said Padram R – an Iranian fan who’s traveled from Canada to LA for a national team that he’s followed since he was a teenager. “This is my third World Cup,” he says.
When I ask him about travelling and prep time, he tells me: “It is what it is. But the US could’ve done a better job in hosting them.
“I do hope that they give us at least 48 hours in before the Seattle match.”
Earlier the Iranian manager Amir Ghalenoei had said that the team will be able to travel earlier than they did for the LA matches adding: “We’ll be allowed to make our own decisions.”
But he decried that they weren’t allowed to do that for the LA matches: “They robbed us of two weeks (prep time).”
