And we’re off!
The FIFA World Cup’s round of 32 officially started with the match on Sunday, June 28 between Canada and South Africa. Now that it’s over, we have our first team to advance to the round of 16, with Canada’s Stephen Eustaquio scoring in stoppage time to lift the Canucks over South Africa.
It’s the first time Canada has moved on to the round of 16 in World Cup history.
There remain 15 additional spots out there for grabs in the round of 16, which will be lowered to 12 by the time Monday’s three-game slate is completed.
Round of 32 action continues through Friday, July 3 with the round of 16 immediately starting on the Fourth of July with a pair of matches in Houston and Philadelphia. The round of 16 will run from July 4 through July 7, with those winners advancing

When does the round of 16 begin?
The round of 16 begins Saturday, July 4 with two games. The first will feature the winners of the Germany and Paraguay game taking on the winners of the matchup between France and Sweden.
The other will see the winners of Canada-South Africa take on the winner between the Netherlands and Morocco.
