Wimbledon is heating up as we head into Week 2 with popular Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime taking on Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. A resurgent Hubert Hurkacz is going up against veteran Jan-Lennard Struff.

Auger-Aliassime took a long time to figure out grass, but it looks like he is finally there. He is into the Wimbledon fourth round for only the second time in his career, and he looks the part of a second-week player. Auger-Aliassime rolled through Michael Zheng in straight sets on Friday and he has piled up 40 aces across his first three matches. He is carrying real form into the second week following a maiden Roland Garros quarterfinal last month. Davidovich Fokina is riding a different kind of momentum. He finally broke through for his first ATP title in Mallorca following five runner-up finishes and he has been on a roll ever since, extending that run to seven matches on grass with a clean win over Marton Fucsovics in the third round.
Auger-Aliassime holds a 4-1 head-to-head edge, but the two have never played on grass and their last meeting at the 2025 Australian Open saw Davidovich Fokina erase a two-set deficit — so history isn’t a lock here. Still, Auger-Aliassime’s serve is the bigger swing factor on this surface, and Davidovich Fokina’s game leans more on grinding from the baseline than dictating with pace — which is a tougher way to win best-of-five on grass. I like Auger-Aliassime to serve his way through a testy four-setter.

Jan-Lennard Struff vs. Hubert Hurkacz
Both players are already ahead of expectations just by being in the round of 16. Struff, at 36, is into his first-ever Wimbledon fourth round — and he got there the hard way, coming from behind in every set to beat Daniil Medvedev across three tiebreakers. Hurkacz, unseeded at No. 96, dropped the opening set to Tommy Paul before turning it around behind 20 aces and 45 winners. This is his best result since 2023, and possibly reminiscent of the run that carried him to the semifinals here in 2021.
The head-to-head sits at 2-2, and their matches tend to be tight regardless of surface, tiebreakers have decided plenty of them before. Both men have leaned hard on their serves all fortnight, and Hurkacz’s has historically been the bigger weapon on grass, with a semifinal pedigree at this event that Struff doesn’t have. But Struff’s return has been sharper this week, and he has already proven twice over that he can find another gear in a fifth set. This one could well go the distance with Hurkacz’s weapons delivering a trip into the quarters.
