PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Monsoon storms moved into the Valley on Monday, causing thousands of power outages and some flight delays.
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for an area including Phoenix, Scottsdale and Paradise Valley until 9:30 p.m.
A rain gauge in central Phoenix measured 1.26′ in an hour.
At one point in the evening, about 15,000 Salt River Project (SRP) customers were without power in Maricopa County, along with about 4,500 Arizona Public Service (APS) customers. About 10,000 SRP customers were also out in Pinal County.
Several flights were delayed at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport as the storm rolled through the Valley.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for Phoenix and ended at 7:15 p.m. A Dust Storm Warning was in effect for the Phoenix area until 7:45 p.m.
