When are Powerball drawings and how much do tickets cost?
Powerball drawings are held three times a week — Monday, Wednesday and Saturday — with numbers broadcast live around 10:59 p.m. Eastern time (7:59 p.m. Pacific). Ticket sales typically cut off about an hour before each drawing, though exact cutoff times vary by state.
Each Powerball ticket costs $2 per play. Players choose five numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26, or can opt for a computer-generated Quick Pick.
For an extra $1 per play, players can add Power Play, which multiplies non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 times, depending on the multiplier drawn that night. Powerball is sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
