DALLAS — It’s hard to find the upside of a 105-degree day, but here’s our best try: Blue Bell is re-releasing a fan favorite for a limited time, providing the opportunity to cool down with a fleeting flavor.
Homemade in the Shade will be back on Texas shelves for a limited time, according to an Instagram post from the brand. The ice cream is a base of vanilla with a swirl of chocolate fudge sauce, according to the post.
The last time Homemade in the Shade was available was during National Ice Cream Month in 2025, according to a press release from the company. Before that, it had been ten years since the treat was available.
“The inspiration for this flavor was simple. Many of our fans told us how much they enjoy eating Homemade Vanilla covered in a chocolate sauce,” Carl Breed, vice president, sales & marketing for Blue Bell, said in the release.
The flavor will be available in half gallon and pint sizes.
