The reigning WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces (6-3) host the Golden State Valkyries (6-4) on Saturday, Jun. 6, at Michelob Ultra Arena as part of the Commissioner’s Cup.
After a 79-69 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday, the Aces are 1-0 in the league’s in-season tournament, which culminates in a $500,000 prize for the winning team. All the WNBA’s teams also chose a charity and will raise funds for it with each win throughout the tournament.
The Aces are led by four-time MVP A’ja Wilson, the league’s second-leading scorer this season with 24.8 points per game. They will be shorthanded in the backcourt, though, with Chennedy Carter and Dana Evans both out. Veteran guard Jewell Loyd is listed as probable with a leg injury.
The Valkyries fell in their last matchup to the Aces, 91-81, last Sunday at Chase Center. Their most recent outing was a 87-84 loss to the Minnesota Lynx.
