dpCLEVELAND — The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for several counties across Northeast Ohio that will start Tuesday afternoon and continue through Wednesday evening.
The following counties will be under the advisory from 2 p.m. Tuesday through 8 p.m. Wednesday:
— Ashland
— Cuyahoga
— Erie
— Huron
— Lorain
— Medina
— Richland
— Summit
— Wayne
The NWS says peak heat index values will range from the upper 90s to lower 100s Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Overnight lows will only be in the low to mid 70s, providing “limited nighttime relief from the heat.” Officials add that hot and humid conditions are expected to continue on Thursday, meaning portions of the Heat Advisory may need to be extended.
Residents are reminded to take extra precautions when outside, as the hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. “Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke,” the NWS advises.
