dpAfter making a splash at the 2026 Winter Olympics, figure skater Amber Glenn is taking a break from the ice and heading to the Dancing With the Stars ballroom. The 26-year-old Olympian will be dancing with DWTS pro Pasha Pashkov and competing for the Season 35 Mirrorball trophy.
Glenn made history as the first queer female skater to represent the U.S. at the Olympics. The figure skater has been open about her sexuality over the years and has been an active voice for the LGBTQ+ community. Will she have a partner in her life cheering her on? During a press conference, Glenn was honest about how she felt being an LGBTQ+ athlete. “It’s been a hard time for this community overall, and this administration—it is the first time that we’ve had to come together as a community and fight for our human rights,” she said. “And it’s not just affecting the queer community, but many others. I hope I can use my platform and my voice throughout these Games to try and encourage people to stay strong in these hard times. I know that a lot of people say, ‘You’re just an athlete, stick to your job. Shut up about politics.’ But politics affects us all. It is something that I will not just be quiet about.”
When did Amber Glenn come out as bisexual/pansexual?
The Texas native revealed she is bisexual/pansexual in a 2019 interview with Dallas Voice. “The fear of not being accepted is a huge struggle for me,” she said at the time. “Being perceived as [going through] ‘just a phase’ or [being] ‘indecisive’ is a common thing for bisexual/pansexual women. I don’t want to shove my sexuality in people’s faces, but I also don’t want to hide who I am.”

Ahead of the Olympics, Glenn spoke about how coming out has empowered her on and off the ice. “I was sick feeling that I was betraying myself in trying to be what was expected of female skaters and that was not who I was,” she said, according to TIME. “With coming out, I felt I was able to lean into my strengths more. I’m a strong athlete, I have muscles, and I’m going to skate to songs I enjoy. I felt I was able to embrace all that once I came out. If that’s all that came out of my skating—just seeing someone like me being represented in skating–then placements be damned, medals be damned, I’m happy with what little stuff I’m able to do in the community.”
Did Amber Glenn date Alysa Liu?
A viral TikTok video of Glenn and fellow Olympian Alysa Liu sparked dating rumors. Glenn set the record straight in the comments. “GUYS, ALYSA IS LIKE A LITTLE SISTER TO ME! I’VE KNOWN HER SINCE SHE WAS 10 AND I WAS 16,” she wrote.
There was also speculation online about Glenn and Olympic gold medalist Ilia Malinin after a video of Malinin at the club with a blonde woman surfaced during the Olympics. “AYO PEOPLE THAT’S NOT ME,” Glenn wrote in the comments section of the video. “IM LITERALLY MID COMPETITION.”
