dpCLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Delta Air Lines flight bound for Orlando, Fla., was evacuated Saturday after returning to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport shortly after takeoff.

According to Delta, Flight 2204 departed Atlanta on Aug. 8 with 199 customers and six crew members on board.
The airline said the flight crew declared an emergency after reports of fumes in the flight deck and returned to Atlanta as a precaution.
After landing, passengers and crew evacuated the Boeing 757 via emergency slides while the plane was still on the taxiway.
“The flight crew followed procedures to return to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after reports of fumes in the flight deck. A slide evacuation occurred on a taxiway, and customers are being reaccommodated on a new aircraft,” a Delta spokesperson said in a statement. “Safety is paramount at Delta, and we apologize to our customers for their experience.”
First responders met the plane on the taxiway following the emergency landing.
Delta said passengers were transported by bus back to the terminal and are being reaccommodated on another flight to Florida.
The airline said maintenance teams will inspect and evaluate the plane to determine the cause of the reported fumes.
No injuries were immediately reported.
