It’s going to be another hot one today in Oklahoma, but part of the state could see severe weather later in the day.

Triple-digit temperatures and even hotter feels-like temperatures remain Friday and heading into the weekend. The northern half of the state, though, could see severe storms that produce damaging 70 mph winds.

Oklahoma Severe Storm Risk
The level 1 marginal risk has expanded to now include all of the northern half of Oklahoma. The risk zone stretches down to Elk City, Clinton, OKC, Shawnee, Seminole, and north of McAlester.
Showers and storms are expected to be isolated, and they could produce 70 mph winds, 1-inch hail, and flash flooding. There’s no tornado risk with these storms.
The radar predictor shows thunderstorms and scattered showers in western Oklahoma and stretching to the OKC metro by 3 p.m. Friday.
Those storms are expected to drop south into southwestern Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle by 7 p.m. Friday.
Rain chances will weaking going into Friday evening, but scattered showers are possible in southern and eastern Oklahoma around 10 p.m. Friday.
Showers will move out of Oklahoma during the overnight hours, setting up a hot weekend.
