CLEMSON — Clemson’s quarterback competition will stretch into Saturday night’s home opener against Georgia Southern.
While both Chris Vizzina and Tait Reynolds are expected to play against the Eagles, Vizzina is expected to start tonight and is taking pregame snaps with the first-team center, Harris Sewell. The senior signal caller also got the nod last week in Baton Rouge against LSU.
In just his second career start, Vizzina was 10-of-16 for just 83 yards. Reynolds also saw some time, with the freshman logging 16 snaps in his Clemson debut, finishing 4-of-6 for 22 yards.
Coming into the season, Vizzina has completed 64-of-105 for 596 yards with four touchdowns and one interception.
The two have been embroiled in a quarterback competition dating back to the spring. While Vizzina will get the start tonight, it will be interesting to see exactly how long his leash is if the offense continues to struggle.
