Sept. 22: Hawkins
County Swim meeting
CHURCH HILL — Hawkins County Swim will hold a mandatory parent and swimmer meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 5:30 p.m. in the Volunteer High School library. Hawkins County Swim is open to student-athletes from across the county in grades 5-12. Both middle and high school swimmers should plan to attend.
Because the Kingsport Aquatic Center (KAC) is undergoing renovations and closed until late January, Hawkins County Swim will be holding its practices at Dobyns-Bennett (DB) for the first part of the season. The meeting will cover important new information regarding practice schedules, logistics and more. Attendance is mandatory for all new and returning swimmers and at least one parent/guardian.
Sept. 22-24: VHS
Baseball Tryouts
CHURCH HILL — Volunteer High School baseball tryouts will be held Tuesday, Sept. 22 and Thursday, Sept. 24 from 7-9 p.m. each day. Any student trying out must have a current physical on file, cleats and a glove. Contact Coach Dylan Day at [email protected].
Sept. 26: Volunteer Slam
CHURCH HILL — Volunteer Slam, a live pro wrestling event to raise funds for the Volunteer girls basketball team, will be held Saturday, Sept. 26 at Volunteer High School. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with bell time at 7:30 p.m. Floor seats are $20 each. General admission seats are $15 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under.

Sept. 26: Genesis Volleyball
Club Tryouts
MORRISTOWN — Genesis Volleyball will hold club tryouts at Morristown Landing on Sept. 26 with sessions for youth ages 14 and under from 10 a.m. until noon and ages 15 and up from 12:30-2:30 p.m. There is a $30 tryout fee. Golf Tournament
KINGSPORT — The United Way of Greater Kingsport’s United We Golf Tournament will be held Sept. 28 at Cattails at Meadowview Golf Course in Kingsport. Registration, lunch, and optional putting contests begin at 11:30 a.m. with a shot gun start at 1 p.m. Individual entry fee is $125; foursome entry fee is $400. Both include 18 holes, cart, lunch, refreshments, a 19th hold social and awards. The day promises friendly competition, community connection and generous prizes to give out. Proceeds from the tournament will support United Way of Greater Kingsport’s efforts to advance youth opportunity, financial stability, healthy communities, and community resiliency throughout the region. Oct. 3: Trout Rodeo
CHURCH HILL — The Church Hill Parks and Recreation’s annual trout rodeo will be held Oct. 3 from 8:30-10 a.m. at Jaycees Park. The rodeo is open to youth ages 4-16 with three age divisions (4-7, 8-11, 12-16). Trophies will be awarded for first fish, first limit of 3 caught and overall largest catch of the day. Oct. 12: Future Chiefs
Mini Cheer Camp
ROGERSVILLE — The Future Chiefs Mini Cheer Camp will be held Oct. 12 from 4-6:30 p.m. in the Cherokee High School gym. Future Chiefs cheerleaders are invited to learn chants and band dances to perform at the football game. A camp T-shirt, bow and pizza/drinks will be provided. The cost is $25 per person. Cheer Night
ROGERSVILLE — Cheerin’ Chiefs alumni are invited to join the current cheerleaders for a refresher practice on Oct. 13 from 5:30-7 p.m. and then for an optional practice on Oct. 15 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Top Gun in Gray. The cost is $25 per person (plus $10 for the Top Gun practice). Participants will join the Cherokee cheerleaders on the sidelines in the second half of Cherokee’s Oct. 16 football game at Mike Sivert Field.
