“What car accident?” That’s the sentiment some Will Trent fans have now that Scott Foley is back on the job market.
After his character, Dr. Seth McDale, died in the Season 4 finale of the crime drama, some fans are hoping for the actor to get a mulligan on the show, especially now that his other series, Prime Video’s It’s Not Like That, was canceled after a single season on the streamer.
On Reddit, some fans reacted to the news of Foley’s romantic drama getting the kibosh by suggesting he should be brought back to Will Trent … and they even pitched some very creative ways for it to happen, too!
“I wonder if the Will Trent show runners will find a way [to] bring him back?” one poster said to get the thread going.
From there, other fans chimed in with a slew of support for the idea.
“Simple. He actually went on to work on a top secret mission so they allowed everyone to think he was dead. He’s now back but that leads into the next big story arc,” one fan suggested. Wrote another, “Or the villain group faked his death and kidnapped. The show has already gotten more soapy.” Another fan connected that possibility to the ongoing trafficking case being run by Faith Mitchell (Iantha Richardson) that’s poised to be a centerpiece of Season 5, writing, “That works! The next big arc is the Epstein style child sex trafficking ring that Faith stumbled onto. He could be working to take them down or kidnapped by them.”
“Yeah we can forget all about that car crash issue. Bring back the bromance with Will (and he was really good for Angie too),” said another fan in the thread.

However, one fan seemed sure that even without any retrofitting, Will Trent watchers are bound to see him again, suggesting, “Will [Ramon Rodriguez] is absolutely hallucinating him next season.” After all, Seth did appear to him in a dream before his death, and characters do tend to come back to him from the grave, so it would be in keeping with the series.
Seth famously (or infamously) died in a car crash that happened en route to take Angie (Erika Christensen) to the hospital to have their baby. Though we didn’t see his death on screen, as he collapsed from internal blood loss at the hospital, we did see the emotional aftermath of the incident with Angie’s depression and Will stepping in to help raise their newborn in her stead.
So what do you think? Should Will Trent find a way to bring Scott Foley back for Season 5? Why or why not?
