JASPER COUNTY, Mo. (KOAM/KJFX) — About 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2026, reports of a serious crash involving a semi on Mo-96, 1/3 mile east of Mo-43 alerted E-911.
Oronogo Fire, Jasper County Deputies and METS ambulance responded.
On scene we learn a 2023 Bronco, driven by a 42-year old Webb City, Mo. man, was eastbound on Mo-96, crossed the center line and struck a semi tractor trailer. He suffered serious injuries and was flown to Mercy Joplin.

The 2024 International semi was westbound on Mo-96, driven by a 28-year old man from Springfield, Mo. He was not injured.

The driver of the Bronco is identified by friends as Matt Miller, an ESPN analyst. They tell us he has a long road to recovery.
“Crash occurred as [Bronco] crossed the center of the roadway. [Semi] attempted to avoid [Bronco]. [Bronco] struck the front driver’s side of [Semi]. [Bronco] ran off the south side of the road. [Semi] ran off the north side of the road, overcorrected and traveled off the south side of the road.”

M&M Wrecker removed both vehicles and debris from the scene.

Mo-96 was closed about 2.5 hours for investigation and clean up, reopened around 6:30 p.m.
