Connecticut Sun trade Aneesah Morrow to Toronto Tempo

Aneesah Morrow has been traded to the Toronto Tempo, the Connecticut Sun announced on Friday afternoon. The Sun have acquired the rights to forward Maria Kliundikova and the Tempo’s 2028 second round pick.

Morrow was drafted by the Connecticut Sun with the seventh overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. In her sophomore season, she’s been largely relegated to a role coming off the bench. In 20 appearances, she has averaged 11.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists for the Sun.

The Sun are a franchise in flux. The 2026 campaign will be the team’s last in Connecticut before the team is relocated to Houston, where they will be rebranded as the Houston Comets under ownership of Tilman Fertitta, who also owns the Houston Rockets.

Because of the Sun’s positional overlap and desire to build a winner heading into the new market, there was a large sense around the league that the front office would be active at the deadline in an effort to further the rebuilding process. The Sun recently turned down an offer from the Toronto Tempo that included a first-round pick in exchange for Aaliyah Edwards.

Morrow has two more years on her contract, including a team option for 2028, before she will become a restricted free agent in 2029.
