HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Flash Flood Warning was allowed to expire for Maui and Hawaii Island Thursday.
As of 7:18 p.m., the National Weather Service said there are no watches, warnings or advisories.
The warning was previously posted for windward portions of Hawaii Island as an area of moisture lingered over the eastern part of the state.
Meanwhile, a flash flood warning was canceled for East Maui as heavy rainfall has diminished in that area.
Your HNN First Alert Weather Team has declared Thursday a First Alert Weather Day for the islands of Maui County and Hawaii.
Hana High and Elementary School in East Maui were closed Thursday due to heavy rain and road closures.

Improvement expected Friday
Improving conditions and drier air have already moved in over the islands of Kauai and Oahu. Some improvement is also anticipated for Maui County and Hawaii Island into the night, but some localized heavy rain will still be possible into Friday for areas of windward East Maui and windward Hawaii Island. More stable conditions should prevail by Friday afternoon statewide.
Weather for Halloween trick-or-treating could still be wet, with scattered showers mainly for windward and mauka areas for the eastern end of the state.

Your First Alert Weather Team will closely monitor conditions and First Alert you to any changes.
