The Indiana Fever star will sit down with Jimmy Fallon on Friday night, days after releasing her first children’s book and announcing a major sponsorship deal.
INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is wrapping up a busy week with an appearance on late-night TV.
Clark will be a guest on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” Friday night, capping off a week that saw the release of her first book and two major sponsorship announcements.
“EXTRAordinary! A Little EXTRA to Reach BIG Dreams,” a children’s book written by Clark, came out on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The book, published by Random House Books for Young Readers, is written in rhyming verse. It focuses on teamwork, perseverance and the love of those around the Fever star, including her family, friends and teammates.
“I think a lot of it is very true to my story, and the way I was raised,” Clark said. “You know, my career as a basketball player, just doing a little extra and believing in yourself a little extra. You’re going to need a little extra love, or courage.”
Clark told the Associated Press in an interview that the book was inspired by a quote that’s on a mirror in her childhood home: “The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the little EXTRA.” The mirror is still in her parents’ house.
On Wednesday, Clark announced a partnership with both DICK’s Sporting Goods and Foot Locker, becoming the first athlete to become a brand partner with both retailers.
“DICK’S Sporting Goods was always a stop before the start of any sports season when I was growing up,” Clark said in a statement. “Being the first ever brand partner for both them and Foot Locker is a really special full-circle moment.”
Clark just wrapped up her third season with the Fever, earning All-WNBA First Team honors alongside teammate Kelsey Mitchell. She averaged 22.3 points per game, the third highest average in the league, along with 8.3 assists, the second highest average in the league. She also set a new league record with 41.2 points created per game.
Actress Sarah Paulson is also scheduled to be a guest of Fallon’s on Friday night’s show, along with a musical performance from Dinner Party.
You can watch “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” weeknights at 11:35 on WTHR Channel 13, immediately following 13News at 11.
