The heat index has been in the 90s most of the afternoon, but temperatures have been held down a bit by cloud cover from earlier storms.
Tonight we could see another round of storms move through the region.
The timing of this looks to be after about 10 p.m., and the storms may last into the early morning hours.

Storms won’t last through Labor Day weekend
All week, we’ve been eyeing a cold front to reach our area on Friday. That is still the case, but the timing now looks a bit later in the day before it can get here.
Storm chances will remain high on Friday afternoon as that front will now be arriving closer to the peak of daytime heating. Severe storms are once again possible. Have flexible outdoor plans on Friday afternoon and evening if you can.
That front should be just to our south on Saturday, so the weekend will be considerably cooler and more comfortable. Highs on Saturday will reach the mid-80s. There could be a stray shower or two on Saturday afternoon, but that rain will come without the severe weather concerns of Thursday and Friday.
Sunday and Monday look near perfect: sunny skies, highs around 80°, low humidity and cool overnights. That break from the heat might prove to be short-lived, as D.C. may well be back at or above 90° by the middle of next week.
But at least the best weather is coming over a long, holiday weekend and that’s gotta count for something.
